Hand Hygiene
Healthy Hand Hygiene
Hand Hygiene is one of the most important ways to stay healthy and limit the spread of any illness including COVID-19.
How to wash your hands? Follow these five steps every time.
Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.
Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water frequently for at least 20 seconds.
Hand washing should be done often, and always:
After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
After being in a public place
Before eating and/or preparing food
Before touching your eyes or putting in contact lenses
Before and after you touch your mask
Before and after recess
After using the toilet
After touching garbage
If you are unable to wash your hands, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. All Gloucester Schools have hand sanitizer stations in classrooms and throughout our buildings.
