Families, Colleagues, and Community Members,
Every day in school is a gift. It is like gold.
Our Schools and the Gloucester Community have been doing a fabulous job with our In-Person Hybrid Learning that we've had in place since school started on September 16th. That we've been able to stay in school and provide in-school learning to students every day this school year is a credit to our educators, school nurses, school leaders, paraprofessionals, food service workers, custodial staff, bus and van drivers, and everyone else who make our schools work. Thank you also to our families who have done a remarkable job of taking care of their children, following our safety protocols, staying home if they feel sick and quarantining when necessary. Together we have taken care of each other and Gloucester's children are benefitting.

What Parents & Guardians Must Know about Returning to School
Stay Home if Sick -- Make sure to do a COVID-19 Symptom Check everyday before your child comes to school. Use our COVID-19 Symptoms Check Guide.
Masks & Face Coverings - All students (PK-12) and all staff must wear masks or face coverings. Families are expected to supply their student's masks. Please be sure your child comes to school every day with a face covering or mask. See our Masks & Face Coverings for tips for selecting and wearing a mask safely.
What if? - We have clearly defined Protocols in case a student or staff member has symptoms or gets COVID-19. See all of our COVID-19 Scenario Protocols.
Health Hand Hygiene - we have added hundreds of hand sanitizing stations in all of our schools. Students will wash or sanitize their hands regularly.
Chromebook Distribution & Collection - We will start distributing Chromebooks on Monday, September 14. See here for more details about Chromebook distribution and how we are collecting Chromebooks issued in the spring.
Fall Athletics at GHS - The School Committee will decide on September 16 whether GHS will compete in interscholastic sports now or wait until the Fall 2 Season in February.
With community transmission of COVID so low in the Cape Ann area, we will begin with in-person learning at our Pre-School, Hybrid models at K-5 and O'Maley Middle school, and Remote Learning at Gloucester High School. GHS will start its Hybrid model on October 13.
After looking at our Safety & Health page, reading our FAQs, and reviewing the Update Section, if you have more questions, please contact your School Principal and talk to your child's teacher. They will have answers that are specific to your school or student.
